Natural Remedies for Damaged and Dry Hair

undefined

When I was young, I had long and thick black hair. Until I turned 17, I wanted to try something different so I decided to dye my hair red with purple streaks of highlights (it was a trend back then). To summarize, I went to the salon to get a professional opinion, got my hair done and I was happy with the results.

However, few weeks later, the effects were dreadful. My hair was so damaged that it became dry and brittle. So I tried using lots of conditioner during every wash and after wash, I applied some hair serum which definitely helped with damage control. But then, I noticed that I started to experience slight hair loss and realized that it was due to those chemical laden products that I was using. I was devastated. Consequently, I’ve reduced the usage of hair conditioner and tried some of these natural remedies and methods that not only treats damaged hair, but also to maintain natural and healthy hair growth.

Yogurt is known for its antibacterial and antifungal agents that help to reduce itchiness, get rid of dandruff, and gives strength to your hair. If you are experiencing dry and damaged hair, you could try to make this simple yogurt mask. All you need is a cup of yogurt and an egg. Mix well and apply it onto your scalp and hair ends. Then, wear a shower cap and let it sit for at least 20 minutes. Lastly, rinse off with cold or warm water and wash your hair with mild shampoo. Make sure you make a fresh batch for every use and to see the results, you could use this mask at least 2 to 3 times a week.

Applying oil to your hair can also help in treating damaged and frizzy hair. Oils like olive oil, almond oil, or avocado oil provides moisture to dry and dull hair while improving the blood circulation of the scalp. To make this mask, just simply mix a few tablespoons of olive oil and honey and apply to damp hair. Then, cover your hair with a shower cap or a damp towel and let it sit for 30 minutes and wash off. The addition of honey in the mixture can help to control dandruff and repair split ends. Additionally, you could also use honey with castor oil to increase hair growth.

Every woman wants to have luscious and healthy hair. Just so you know, these methods don’t work instantly as it takes a lot of time, effort, and patience if you want to treat your damaged hair. So apart from using these natural remedies, preventive measures such as maintaining a proper diet, drinking lots of water, and exercising regularly is also essential to improving your hair health.
